Frances Rivero graduated from James Campbell High School's first graduating class in 1965. She dedicated her life to the betterment of the Ewa Beach Community. Frances, also lovingly known as Aunty Ana, was a founding member of the James Campbell High School Alumni and Community Foundation (Foundation) and a founding member and director of the Ewa Beach Boys and Girls Club (EBBGC). She worked tirelessly to support the community’s youth and led the campaign to build the EBBGC Clubhouse.
For over 20 years, the Clubhouse has provided a much needed afterschool safe haven for children to seek help with homework develop leadership and social skills and make lifelong friendships. Her skills and dedication led her from the EBBGC director position to her promotion as the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii Director of Operations, and she continued to serve on the EBBGC advisory board in community development well into her retirement.
Frances’s love for the Ewa Beach community prompted her to serve as the Weed and Seed Hawai‘i (WSH) President and Chairperson. Through her involvement with WSH and Hoakalei Cultural Foundation, Frances helped to beautify the Ewa Beach community, by reducing crime and perpetuating the Hawaiian culture. She was also integral in fostering partnerships among Ewa Beach community organizations, such as EBBGC and the Hoakalei Cultural Foundation.
Frances has inspired many through her love for children, service to community, and her courage to do good work for the masses. To honor her legacy, the Ohana of the late Frances Rivero seeks to provide a scholarship opportunity to a graduating Senior or Alumni with preference to a current or past member of the Ewa Beach Boy's and Girls Club.
