PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Aloha Sabers and the Saber Community,
As the Ali`i traverse the coral bed known as the “Karsts”, the Ewa area has always been unique and significant to all those who had the courage to come west. The Artesian well system provided the Ali`i and our people with refreshing cool drink and the ability to grow breadfruit as the first breadfruit was introduced to Hawaii upon our shores. The environment was ideal for growing sisal which led to the manufacturing of ropes and other material for ranching. James Campbell knew the value of these lands and had the vision to turn these lands into industrious places of opportunity for ranching, sugar cane plantations, and the Hawaiian Railway. James and Abigail Campbell’s legacy lives on today as the development of the West Oahu University of Hawaii, KROC Center, Federal Bureau of Investigations Complex, Hoakalei Lagoon & Resort, Laulani Shopping Center, and soon The Rail.
Being the name sake, it is with that same industrious spirit James Campbell High School thrives today leading the state of Hawaii’s public school system with the largest student population, International Baccalaureate Program, and the most scholarships awarded over the last few years. I am filled with PRIDE. Not just any Pride, but of course, SABERS PRIDE. There is so very much to be proud of and yes much work to be done.
The James Campbell High School Alumni & Community Foundation's goal is to see the fruition of a state of the art sports complex for the campus that will promote excellence in health, scholar-athletics, and a community-benefit. In order to accomplish this all SABERS and all who love SABERS are tasked to answer the ROAR. As we work toward this goal, we will also commit to providing an alumni scholarship program. We are going to need the whole PACK to participate, plan, and execute a series of events to raise funds, leverage grant opportunities, membership, collaborations, and most of all, the PRIDE it will take to reach our goals.
Hail to Thee!!! Sabers True!!! Campbell High!!! – Let’s Go Sabers!!!
Mahalo,
Tesha Malama
