5.         MEMBER REPORTS

5.1       Fundraising Gala Event                                                        T. Suster

Thomas spoke with Vicky Gaynor, who is unable to lead the Gala committee.

Thomas has been doing research on gala events.  His ideas include – we need to think about what are we going to give back to sponsors, that we need something to draw them in (honor someone, alumni speakers, etc.), start small – maybe a luncheon?, carnival with a grand give away (like OLPH church), silent auction?, location is important – Dole, Ko Olina, Okinawan Center, Cheryl has access to a place at First Hawaiian Bank’s Corporate building.

Looking at 2008.  Each class can sponsor a table.  Gala under the stars at JCHS – lanterns, tent?  Need sponsorship, a letter should be sent out soliciting door prizes in December/January with the ID tax number attached and offer  free tickets to the event.  Committee needs to meet – Tom will chair this committee.  Liz (to email Tom with the names of more contacts) and Cheryl will be part of the committee.
